Disability Discrimination Lawsuit Filed Against Los Angeles County
LOS ANGELES (July 31, 2026) — Los Angeles County employees have filed a lawsuit against the County claiming the County is failing to accommodate their disabilities.
The County of Los Angeles purports to have policies and practices to ensure employees with disabilities or medical conditions who request accommodations are not discriminated against and are provided with reasonable accommodations in compliance with County policy and state and federal law. However, in practice, County staff responsible for implementing these policies are not trained properly and are harassing, discriminating, and retaliating against employees who request accommodations.
The County’s failure to accommodate employees with disabilities has resulted in countless lawsuits, with the County paying out significant settlements and judgments to disabled employees who were forced out of their careers. Plaintiffs seek court intervention to force the County to adhere to its own policy “to provide equal opportunity in county employment for all qualified persons, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or handicap…” and to “engage in a timely, good faith Interactive Process to determine what, if any, reasonable accommodation shall be provided…” to employees with disabilities.
